Paving Near the Alabama River

Asphalt paving in Coosada is residential and rural work on low ground near the Alabama River. Coosada, in Elmore County at about 174 feet, had 1,217 residents in 2020. It was not incorporated until 1967.

Deep history

A Creek village called Koasati stood here in the 18th and early 19th centuries. William Wyatt Bibb, later Alabama's governor, bought the village land and divided it into lots, and he is buried in a family cemetery just outside town. After a depot opened in 1872, the settlement was called Coosada Station.

Low ground

At 174 feet near the river, Coosada sits lower than its neighbors. Soft ground and slow drainage are common, so we probe and build a firm base and slope to drain.

Long drives

Rural lots have long drives. We compact past the paved width, crown the surface and add culverts where water crosses.

Neighbors

Coosada borders Elmore to the north, and Coosada Parkway connects toward Montgomery.

Cost guide

Published national ranges put new asphalt driveways at about $5 to $12 or more per square foot (HomeGuide), seal coating at $1 to $2 per square foot and pothole repairs at $100 to $400. Low, soft ground can add base work. We give you a written number after the site visit.

Upkeep on low ground

On low ground, keeping ditches and culverts clear is as important as sealing. Water standing beside the pavement softens the base from the edge.

Small lots

The town hall, post office and churches have small lots that need patching, sealing and striping now and then.
